ANDREW DIBBEN F.I.E.A., Dip.A.D.
Andrew Dibben studied Fine Art at Bournemouth & Poole College of Art and Norwich School of Art, and became a full-time professional artist in 1989. Since then he has specialised in landscape and marine subjects, and painted numerous commissions for shipping companies, including P&O Cruises and Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines.
Dibben is primarily a watercolourist, noted for his highly detailed studio work, but has also worked extensively in the field, resulting in work of a looser appearance. He is particularly known for his minutely observed paintings of small wooden boats, architectural subjects, and also expansive beach scenes.
Dibben has shown work regularly for some 30 years at The Gallery, Holt, in North Norfolk, and has had a number of one-man shows there, most recently in 2014 and 2019. He has also shown at Mandell’s Gallery, Norwich, and other East Anglian galleries.
Andrew Dibben is one of the four founder members of the I.E.A. (Institute of East Anglian Artists). See: www.eastanglianartists.com
Since 1977, he has shown work in many years with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours (R.I.), the R.S.M.A., the Society of Graphic Fine Art, and the Laing Competition.
Since 2010, Dibben has worked intermittently on a side project of somewhat surreal drawings and paintings of an imaginary world, entitled “Abyssworld”. He has adopted the pseudonym of 'Nebbid Werdna' for this work, to separate it from his earlier works. A major exhibition of the series was staged in Great Yarmouth in late 2020 at the Primeyarc Gallery.
