We are a small group of professional and semi-professional artists with a shared enthusiasm for depicting marine subjects.

Together with holding exhibitions the group also meet socially and take part in outdoor painting days several times a year, usually including one 'afloat' on members' yachts, or often aboard a Thames Sailing Barge.

The Group came into being in 1979 when six marine painters met at the famous 'Butt and Oyster' pub at Pin Mill, located on the banks of the River Orwell in Suffolk. Soon others were invited to join, amongst them some well known and highly regarded artists who were also attracted by the allure of the subject matter on offer along the East Coast. Following an inaugural exhibition in 1980 the group has advanced progressively both in quality and diversity to make it the respected organisation it is today.
